Painting

“Painting was something I was surprised to discover I enjoyed. Although I do have a signature grayscale style and prefer only to do part of the face the overall quality of my paintings has evolved over time.

I began by painting the Irish revolutionary Michael Collins for my grandmother’s birthday. After that success I began to expand finding source images off the Internet of random people and things.

Finally, I attempted painting on plaster where I did a painting of Michelangelo’s David. As with all my work I wanted to use this to tell stories and so filled a photo album with drawings or connecting to the story of the girls whose sister Aster is cursed by a witch, and she must help her escape to someone safe. It was so much fun to make and eventually led me to my preferred medium of scrapbooking.”
